Winter is Coming

Welp, 2024 had none of the charm of summer 2016 (insert eyeroll). Frankly,I blame Elon's robots and the countless barage of nonsense in the press and media this year. However, I am thankful to Bouldercrest’s own Gucci Mane La Flare and the good folks down at the ONE Music fest, for lightening the mood and bringing good old fashioned fun back to the forefront. I have a feeling that festival season (and your lack of overall care for your hair fren) may have wreaked havoc on your leave out and edges this summer. No doubt there were other bad decisions during this period as well. We all know what summer in the A is like.

Now that you have heat damage, no edges, and are quite possibly with child, what next? Luckily fall/winter season is upon us. The weather and parties will cool down, if only slightly. Focus shifts from fun to family, and losing summer party pounds is priority numero uno. While strengthening your body and familial bonds, do the same for your hair! Here are a few suggestions that are easy to implement into your daily routine...or lack thereof.

Use the code GRATEFUL to get this deal before time runs out!

  • As per usual, Protective Styling - Refer to our What is a Protective Style? post if you have questions about what styles are actually protective, how to maintain them, and which styles to avoid.

  • Biweekly Deep Conditioning - Strengthen your strands and encourage moisture retention and elasticity by deep conditioning your hair at least once bi-weekly. For best results, use a clarifying shampoo before this step.

  • Add a Pre-poo - Reduce knots and breakage while promoting softness. Our Rosemary Rinse is an excellent addition to your routine for this step.

  • Get a Trim - Reduce frizz and tame split ends for an overall healthier head of hair. Trimming every 6-8 weeks promotes healthy hair growth.

  • Seal and Protect Ends - No matter the method of moisturizing that you prefer (LOC or COL), don't neglect your ends. Use an oil like Super Dope Hair's Peppermint Potion to seal moisture in the ends of your hair before styling.

  • Try going heatless - Our hair is fragile and requires intense levels of care. Try eliminating heat from your hair regimen to promote bouncier curls and more vibrant texture.

I hope you incorporate these methods into your winter styling pattern. Lmk if you need help!!
